What is this?
In response to a growing need and member requests for a
Medical
Note
-Taking program (MNT), Northwest Neighbors Village applied for and received a grant in 2014 to create a specialized training for volunteers for
Medical
Note
-Taking. They partnered with a local social services agency, Iona Senior Services, to create the training and coordinating manuals. NNV sells the training materials to other Villages for $100 and shares the profits with the social service agency. Many of the local Villages and some Villages nationally have adapted our program to meet their individual Village's needs.
In 2015, NNV and Iona presented this model at the ASA conference in Washington, DC. This program has also been featured in YSA Today.
NNV offers Medical Note-Taking training separate from regular volunteers training. Only trained volunteers can offer this service. Volunteers meet with members in advance of the appointment to be sure they've made a list of questions to have answered at the visit. This is also a time to gather contact info for anyone who is to receive the
notes
, as NNV does not receive nor do we store the MNT
notes
.
Come to this webinar to learn more about their program and how you can implement it in your own Village!
